A lift station that clogged twice a week — for years.

The City of Fayetteville, North Carolina struggled with a lift station that clogged for years. After trying pumps from other suppliers, they still had to unclog this station twice a week. Heritage Water and Barnes Pump worked with them to install two Sithe chopper pumps.

Wipes, constant failures, and only single-phase power available.

When an apartment complex found themselves in a bind, Heritage Water was able to pull together the parties required to find a solution. The complex had been experiencing constant clogging and failures as residents disposed of more wipes into the waste stream. We provided a bypass pumping system, refurbished an outdated piping system, and supplied new controls allowing three-phase power when only single-phase was available from the power company.

Chopper pumps end a chronic clogging station

Fayetteville PWC ran a duplex station that clogged at least twice a week on wipes and hygiene products. Impellers were lasting under a year and crews were being called out at night. Two 4″ 5 HP Barnes Sithe chopper pumps went in during January 2019.

130 lift stations onto one monitoring platform

Hilton Head PSD ran 130 lift stations across a patchwork of SCADA systems — some with none at all, needing daily visits. Cellular RTUs were fitted into the existing control panels. Fifty sites went in over two weeks; the district’s own electricians finished the rest after training.

Sixty horsepower of aeration taken off the bill

The Mebane Bridge plant was running 240 hp of aeration to hold solids in the north basin, pushing dissolved oxygen to 6–7 mg/L — far past what the process needed. A single SB10000 circulator let them cut back.

A 1950s structure converted to a lift station moving 2–3 MGD. Charcoal filtration was overwhelmed and crews were hydro-vaccing about 1,000 gallons of grease a week. Two Twister heads and a 40 g/hr ozone generator were piloted, then installed permanently.

EPCOR Water had a 2-inch coarse screen passing nearly everything, and cleaning it meant two workers climbing a 30-foot shaft. Debris was jamming pumps and mixers miles downstream. A half-inch Screentec now removes the bulk of it at the station.
